Propositions for a Stage: 24 Frames of a Beautiful Heaven is an exhibition curated by Dr Bridget Crone, lecturer at Goldsmiths University and visiting scholar at CalArts School of Critical Studies, at LASALLE’s Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) Singapore.
It features the works of five artists - Amanda Beech, Zach Blas, Rabih Mroué, Uriel Orlow and Ming Wong - who explored notions of time within the theatre and film practice.
Singaporean visual artist, Ming Wong, gave an exclusive interview to The Straits Times and shared with them that his work within the exhibition, The Bamboo Theatre (2017), was a result of several stages of research over the course of three years.
He was particularly interested in the experimentation that occurred in early Hong Kong cinema, and stated that: “I wanted to see if the Cantonese Opera genre could be used to address current issues or themes about the future.”
